Leather , silver & bead work "kazoo"
Even before establishing the brand "kazoo," I was drawn to Native American jewelry (especially beadwork by the Plains tribes) and indigenous culture, leading me to visit the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota in 2001.
I create everything myself, from various standard products to full custom orders, based on "beadwork on deerskin," using Lazy Stitch, one of the most popular traditional techniques of the Plains tribes (especially the Lakota).
The beadwork designs are inspired by what I felt during my travels through the Lakota lands, the people I met there, and my experiences, shaping what I want to express now.
Finally, the name "kazoo" came about when the grandchild of an elder who helped me on the Indian reservation couldn't pronounce my name "Kazumi" properly and suddenly started calling me "Kazoo!!" Since then, it became my nickname and the name of my workshop.
